Boston Christmas.

My Mom and Sister came in for Christmas for five days. We pretty much did the city right.

Ate tons of good food, watched a number of movies, took in the Nutcracker, built a snowman (who looked like a bear) and of course the Freedom Trail. We did that again. I do it about once every 15 minutes it seems.

It was probably the first time in 10 years that I've got to spend that much time with some of the family. And it was really good.







I really am glad they were able to come up and have a white Christmas.

Old Man Winter.

My ride in this morning was more like the Ice Capades than a morning commute. I dressed like Mickey Mouse for the occasion.

Then I saw this, and thought it was pretty fitting.

8,000 Christmas Hits.

That's how many hits we've had in the past year and a half.

We've put most of them up ourselves, but pay no mind to that. We've still got 8,000 more than those with no blog, right?

Today has been downright wintery. Snow all last night, all day today. I think we've gotten a foot or so. We are due for a few more inches tomorrow. All that snow means that, after a brief walk to Target, we've just watched TV and the snow and done things inside. Probably some hot cocoa later. Things could get out of hand.



I also weatherized the basement a bit. All the old windows are quite drafty. So, I took some old bike inner tubes and cut them up, nailed them around the frames. Instant, recycled rubber gaskets for the windows.

Also, as I was sitting looking at the place today, in it's Christmastime goodness, I realized how far it's come since I moved in last June. Observe.

And the weather outside it frightful. Since we've no place to go.

My office closed today at 12:30. Cause we are getting walloped with snow. Something like 8 to 12 inches before it stops tomorrow morning.

Looks like it is going to be a white Christmas in New England.

See that dot of Boston? That's where the snow isn't. I'm ready for it. Bring it on.

On a side note, I'm going snowboarding tomorrow. But the desire for snow has nothing to do with that. It's more me wanting a white Christmas for Mom and Lab as they come up in a week.

And a little of the gnarly pow pow in the morning will be fine too.

I know a guy. Well, I have been working with a guy. On a new business startup. The guy happens to work with some other guys. And those guys and this guy all live in New Orleans. And this guy (not the other ones) is also a coach for the New Orleans Hornets.

Which means I scored some sweet tickets last night (along with my buddy Zach) to watch the Celtics smash them - like bugs - and move to 23-2 on the season. Which is a franchise record.

And I also got to go stand on Lucky the Leprechaun. And I was channeling Kevin Garnett as I did so.

Jack Frost had better quit.

Our noses are being nipped. Yuletide carols are getting sung by a fire. And folks are dressed like mistletoe. Or however it goes.




We got a tree, we put it up. And the next morning? Snow.


Merry Christmas. We can't wait.

Vampire Weekend.

Scored a free ticket to see these lads last night at the Orpheum. It was really good.

But they only have like 7 songs. So it was a short show.

Belated Thanksgiving

We went to NC for the week of Thanksgiving and got to spend time with family and friends. And we ate food. A lot of food. Not only did we have 2 Thanksgivings, but we had to hit all of our favorite NC food places which included good ole beans-and-rice mexican food and Carolina BBQ. Yum!

We needed to catch up with a lot of buddies, so we met up with a bunch of people at a new bar in Durham called The Pinhook. It was a place that opened after we had left, but it was neat to go back downtown and see how the place had changed.

Thanksgiving with my Dad's family and then Thanksgiving (again) with my Mom's family. Plaid seemed to be theme that day with us and my brother and sister (and the couch).

I also had a 10-year high school reunion while we were home. Which was...interesting. It was cool to see people I hadn't seen in a while. And it's weird to think that we've been out of school for so long. I'm old!

Someone searched my site out in Qatar. So, of course, I had to see what my site would look like in Arabic.

We'll tell you about Thanksgiving at some point. All I can tell you now is that we are thankful for you all, for family, for safe travels and for our jobs.
